Wonder Scientists for Preschool and Elementary Children

Science education projects that are suitable for preschool, home, and school.

Our team decided that science for small children was not just a good idea, but essential.

In addition to the book, Laura and I ran small group workshops in our home and larger scale sessions at the Intermountain Suzuki Strings Institute for a few years. My husband, Des Penny, started the process with Phun with Physics classes for our children and their friends when teaching physics at Southern Utah University.

This first post is the book and you are welcome to use the ideas. We would appreciate attribution if you share in other places. We have also included the handouts for the enrichment course at ISSI.

We are fortunate to live in Southern Utah and enjoy the splendid scenery and sunsets of the area.

Later posts will have additional ideas for home and school use.

Laura and Des have retired from Southern Utah University.  Our son Brian has gone on to sound engineering. I am now a cheerleader instead of a leader for the Orchestra, Suzuki Strings, and the Cedar City Arts Council.  For more on my teaching see Music education articles and resources , and Teaching video index updated periodically

We hope that you will enjoy our efforts.

Happy discovery,

Sara Penny
